A Doctoral Student's Psychological Analysis of America's Current President, Donald J. Trump

Let's see... where to start; there is so much here to write about - in some aspects, Trump has been good for America - the economy is booming overall, though there are stilll areas that are struggling.  The stock market has been on its longest steady increase EVER in the history of the market; and unemployment is down (although it had already been going down under Obama's administration).

The problem with Trump is... well, everything else.  Take, for example, all of the things he has said that everybody knows are untrue; outright lies that have been proven to be false.  The man is as egotistical as people come.  He is a narcisist; in love with himself, and not ashamed to say so.  He thinks he is great, and he convinces a good number of people that he is great - because he is great, at convincing people of things.

When he allowed cameras into the oval office, to record a portion of the discussions about DACA last week, I was impressed.  But watching replays on the news now, I notice one thing... Donald Trump sits with his arms crossed and folded tightly most of the time, as he argues for 'the wall' and uses the people documented under the DACA plan as bargaining chips.

The crossing of one's arms, while talking to another, shows defensiveness and is un-welcoming.  It is a trait of liars, which shouldn't surprise anyone reading this, and it demonstrates that one is closing themselves off to the conversation.  It shows an unwillingness to fully interact.  Trump did a good job of pretending to interact, but as the newscasters are reporting, he contradicted himself repeatedly; he 'agreed' with everybody, and said exactly the opposite thing in one statement and the next.  Nobody really knows what he thinks, honestly believes - or if he really cares about anyone other than himself and his family.  We all know what he stands for though... SEPARATION.

Not only because he wants that damn 'wall' (which logistically has to be simple fencing or just surveilance cameras where the Rio Grande crosses the border), and not even because he has banned particular types of people from coming to our country, particular other countries in fact, or because he tried to throw transgender people out of the militarry via Twitter!  He demonstrates is stance for separation in everything he does, including the way he conversates with other people, both verbally and with his body language.

The real problem isn't Trump's self-defensiveness, however; the problem is that he is playing with other people's lives, trying to take the position of a monarch, as if we should all just fall at his feet and bow when he speaks.  He'd love that.  He is now actually considering the possibility of tossing hundreds of thousands of young adults, who's parents brought them here illegally (at no falt of their own) to provide a better life for them, out of the country!  Most of these people are contributing positively to our economy and the communities they live in, have never done anything illegal themselves and have raised or are raising children and built family systems here... and he wants to just send them all back to their 'country of origin'?  Most of them don't even speak their native language - how are they supposed to get by in a country they are unfamiliar with, living amonst people they don't know, with their family members who were born in America stay in America?

What is Trump thinking?!  Is he even thinking?  Some days, I wonder.  There has been a lawsuit filed against him, if not more than one, for one reason or another, and it is questionable how distant from this 'Russia investigation' Trump really is.

My fear is that he is slowly isolating America from the rest of the world; rejecting certain countries completely, and insulting others.  At the very least, most are irritated by his attempts to control.  His behavior on the campaign trail was bad enough; the right people, in the right places, let it go and voted him in.  But for him to continue in office, as he is, acting like a bully, refusing to give on anything he wants but expecting others to bend fully his direction, and flatly discriminating against certain persons because of their gender, or color, or country of origin, is simply not tolerable of the America we were intended to be (a country of immigrants, AS WE ALL ARE).

Wolf's new Book, Fire & Fury, quoting Steve Bannon in part, is all over the news right now, making many people question if Trump is "fit for office" or not.  I have to admit, I voted for him, because I knew he was going to win (I just knew) and I figured it was what needed to be, for whatever reason.  Maybe his purpose was simply to open all of our eyes and bring about more interest to the world of politics in America.  Maybe Trump, as President, is a lesson for us all.

Young Americans, stand up and speak out; the future of America depends upon you!
